Dude, a really wonderful young artist Tara Mateik, an agent of the Society of Biological Insurgents (SBI) is performing tomorrow night at Renna Spaulings Gallery (371 Grand between Essex and Norfolk).
The performance one of the many events structured around LTTR's third and most recent release.
I think Tara's work (which I have only seen mediated by video) is really bright, fun, and important - in other words if you have soul and are in nyc and are not there you are a punk. More complexly Tara finds simple, physical, and often humorous ways to explore the problematics of gender, class and oppressive structures of power; inscribed upon the current metanarratives of science and genetic engineering. Of course all you need to know is that Tara rocks. LTTR also rocks and you should bring a few bucks to pick up the most recent issue, which is probably better than anything you do (if you=me anyway).
You can check out some of tara's work here
There is more information about the performance itself after the cut.
